Inspired Minds: Therapeutic Art Workshops at Sowing Seeds Wellbeing CIC
At Sowing Seeds Wellbeing CIC, we are delighted to offer Inspired Minds — a programme of therapeutic after-school art and craft sessions designed especially for children aged 8–14 (KS2–KS3). Delivered in partnership with Inspired Minds, these sessions provide a calm, nurturing space where creativity and wellbeing go hand in hand.
Set within our welcoming Thackley site, children are encouraged to relax, express themselves, and explore their creativity in a safe and supportive environment. Our approach is rooted in the belief that creativity can be a powerful tool for building confidence, supporting emotional wellbeing, and helping young people feel seen, valued, and inspired.
Each session offers hands-on, engaging activities using a wide range of materials and techniques, including drawing, painting, clay, craft, and mixed media. Sessions are thoughtfully planned yet remain flexible, allowing children the freedom to experiment, follow their interests, and enjoy the creative process without pressure.
At the heart of the programme is Jo, a qualified art teacher, NCFE Art and Design teacher and assessor, and trained therapeutic art practitioner. With extensive experience in both education and pastoral care, Jo has:
- Planned and delivered ICT and Art & Design curricula
- Led departments as Head of Art & Design and Curriculum Leader
- Overseen subjects including Graphic Design, Fine Art, Product Design, Textiles, and Food Technology
- Coordinated NCFE qualifications and Art & Craft assessment
This unique blend of expertise ensures that every session is not only creatively rich but also emotionally supportive and carefully structured to meet the needs of each child.
A Creative Project with Purpose
Each half termly workshop block is centred around a meaningful creative project — such as clay sculpting, printmaking, junk modelling, mindful drawing, collage, or collaborative mural-making. Children are guided through techniques and materials while working towards a final piece they can feel proud of.
At the same time, we recognise that every group is different. Sessions are responsive and adaptable, shaped by the interests, energy, and emotional needs of the children taking part.
A clay session might evolve into animal sculptures, expressive portraits, or imaginative creations.
A printmaking activity could explore pattern and maths links, or storytelling and symbolism.
Some groups may thrive with energetic, expressive painting, while others may prefer quieter, mindful activities like weaving or pattern work.
We provide the creative framework — and the children help shape the journey.
